Cognitive Rehabilitation

Day to day living requires the useof both physical and cognitive skills. Cognitive or thinking skills can affectthe following:

· Attention

· Decision-making

· Memory

· Problem-solving

· Safetyawareness

Difficulties with such skills areassociated with an injury to the brain, as the result of trauma ordevelopmental delay. Psychologists identify difficulties with cognition, andthe impact these difficulties have on every day skills. They work on improvingskills and providing suggestions. For example; they can break down a task intosteps (task analysis). This method may make it easier to perform the task.Additionally, visual reminders may also help when there is memory loss.
